Morris Campus Educational Farm (MCEF), is an urban production farm founded in 2017. It is the first urban production farm in Morrisania. The farm is a joint effort with the Morris Campus schools: School For Excellence, Bronx International, Morris Academy for Collaborative Studies, High School for Violin and Dance and the New York Botanical Garden/Bronx Green Up.
The Purpose and mission of the farm is to provide a student learning space centered on mindfulness practices that engages students in real life problem solving solutions in the creation, maintenance and sustainability of an urban farm production.
The farm daily activities allow students to explore and learn the overall aspects of the maintenance of an urban production farm such as:crop planning and planting-harvesting, marketing and organization. The farm provides services to the schools and the community. In addition, the farm’s Summer/Fall internship program prepares students with the development of career and job readiness skills. MCEF educational activities are aligned to Science, Math, English Language Arts and Literacy State Learning Standards.
